We had trouble finding digital content that we felt was good enough for our children. Much of what was available was aimed at older children or was of low quality, which meant the children quickly lost interest. The alternatives we found also had little focus on learning and development, and were instead centred around meaningless games with overstimulating elements.
The only content we felt was good enough was available only on TV or YouTube, but the children would press the screen, trying to engage and get a response, just as they would with a traditional picture book or music book.
«After fruitless searching, we realised that if we wanted a better digital experience for our children — we had to make it ourselves.»
In autumn 2022, the adventure began, and the first version of Petra was completed during the Christmas holidays. Since then, we have tested and further developed the service with multiple families, children and kindergarten educators to find the perfect balance between play and learning. The result is Petra — our digital learning world for young children.
Our vision
Petra was established with a vision to create the best digital learning experiences for young children. Using game-based learning, we turn learning into play and create a safe environment where children can develop. Learning is something we take very seriously in Petra — and we have a rule that every single game must contain an element of learning and be linked to Norwegian kindergarten learning goals.
Our team
The team at Petra is made up of passionate people with years of experience in technology, education, finance and marketing. What brings us together is a strong desire to create services that simplify everyday life and create value through technology. Every team member brings something unique, and each one has been carefully chosen to help make Petra the best digital learning experience for young children.
We have used Petra with our own children for years, and we hope that your family will get as much joy and value from the app as we have.
