Digital Learning Play builds on game-based learning and is tailored for young children, using play as a tool to support learning. Play is the child's primary approach to their own development, and forms the foundation for how they acquire knowledge, skills and build a sense of mastery.
Through Digital Learning Play, Petra promotes and inspires various types of digital play and learning that contribute to well-rounded development and are linked to what children aged 1 to 6 learn in kindergarten.

The learning content is drawn directly from the subject areas in the Norwegian Framework Plan for Kindergartens and is reflected in the app through the choice of themes, types of game activities, use of tools and learning approaches. To ensure well-rounded learning, the content is also linked to different subject categories, so the child can practise subjects such as language, maths, logic and music in the same app.
All content in Petra is developed in consultation with educators and continuously tested to ensure content of the highest quality that is both entertaining, educational and adapted for young children.
Petra's learning content
The Norwegian Framework Plan for Kindergartens is the guiding framework for all learning in Petra. The framework plan is a regulation for the content and tasks of kindergartens, and includes an overview of the subject areas focused on in kindergarten. Petra has used these subject areas as a starting point to ensure that the learning in the app is transferable to what the child encounters in kindergarten and in the real world.
Petra aims to cover the full learning spectrum for children in kindergarten, and offers varied learning for children aged 1 to 6. Every single game in Petra contains an element of learning, across subjects such as logic, language, colours, emotions, creativity, maths, geometry and music.
